2009 Could Herald Strong Returns for Private Equity

Low confidence could mean strong returns for those investing in private equity, according to private investor syndicator Hotbed. Based on historic data, next year could offer strong returns for investors in private equity as investments made at the depth of the last recession saw 80 per cent annual returns.
According to Hotbed, investments made in private equity funds during 1991, at the height of the last recession when Gross Domestic Product (GDP) shrank by 1.4 per cent, saw an impressive 81.8 per cent return per annum over the following five years.
