Canadian private-equity fares better than U.S. counterpart

Canadian private-equity weathered 2008 crisis better than its U.S. counterparts. According to a new report by Canada’s Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA).
According to the report, Canada’s buyout community raised $5.6-billion in 2008, up 22% from $4.6-billion in 2007. By contrast the U.S. buyout industry fell by 14%.

Hawaii fund plans private equity review
