The conference was a great success! Thank you to all members who were able to attend the conference and workshops.
While the weather in Atlanta was a bit of a wash, the conference was a shining success with attendance levels surpassing our spring conference in 2008. This was a fantastic result given these “turbulent” times. The ILPA would like to thank UPS for co-hosting the conference and a special mention to Bob Gasway and Erik Sebusch, who not only helped us through logistics issues but contributed to the program development as well.
The Membership Committee was thrilled to inaugurate the Ambassador Program where existing members were paired with new members during the Welcome Reception to help with the integration process. Not much assistance was required and it appeared that a good time was had by all! Ambassadors have committed to maintain contact throughout 2009 to ensure our new members are aware of all the ILPA has to offer. If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador or would like an Ambassador assigned to your organization, please contact the Membership Committee or Christina Gyore, Membership and Events Manager.
Kurt Kuehn, Chief Financial Officer, UPS was the dinner keynote speaker and provided us with a perspective of the impact of the current world economics on a global operating organization. Robert Bertram, retired Executive Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan opened the general session on Friday morning with his views on structuring a pension portfolio and the role of private equity within the asset mix.
