After the biggest bust in private equity’s history, investors still don’t know when to say when.
World-wide fund raising for buyout funds peaked at $235 billion in 2006, according to research firm Preqin. In those heady days, it was easy to forget that most funds have a deadline of five or six years, after which they lose the right to invest committed funds.
