As principal at his family office, Blennemann Family Investments, Heinz is a global investor with a passion for networking with others. At ILPA , together with Anselm Adams, he co-leads the family office network and serves on the committee for selecting emerging managers for the ILPA Summit. At the Campden Institute for Private Investors (a network of ~300 family offices), he serves on the advisory faculty. He is also an active angel investor and a member of Band of Angels (an angel investor group). Heinz began his career in technology, building a technology team at Juniper Networks and teaching engineering at Stanford University as a consulting professor. Our investment strategy is in the form of a barbell. On the credit side, we invest in private credit and specialty finance funds. Examples are airplane finance and part-out, healthcare royalty, and trade-finance in Asia, LatAm, and Africa. On the equity side, we invest in niche private equity and real estate funds. We like sector-specific funds which have a strategy that is hard to replicate, are operationally focused, buy at low valuations, mitigate downside risk, and have a track-record of successful realizations. And in the middle, we avoid such fund strategies as equity long-short, domestic hedge funds - we find there is too much competition.
