Kaplan Neubauer Family Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance, University of Chicago Booth School of Business Joseph London Audit Partner, Grant Thornton LLP 12 LEVEL I Steven is the Neubauer Family Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Faculty Director of the Polsky Entrepreneurship Center. Steven’s research and teaching focus on issues in private equity and entrepreneurial finance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisit- ions, and corporate finance. He has been one of the top-rated teachers at Chicago Booth in Business Week’s bi- annual surveys since 1992. Business Week named him one of the top 12 business school teachers in the country. A member of the faculty since 1988, Steven previously held positions with Kidder, Peabody & Co. and Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He earned his PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University. LEVEL I Joe specializes in complex investment partnerships including private equity and hedge funds, mutual funds, unit investment trusts and also has experience working with other public companies. He has directed and managed the performance of financial statement audits and quarterly reviews. In addition, Joe is responsible for providing internal staff training on audit methodologies. He has also performed quality control reviews for other Grant Thornton LLP offices. He serves as an active participate on Grant Thornton’s Financial Reform task forces and Grant Thornton’s Thought Leadership Committee. Joe has served clients in an array of industries including hedge funds, private equity firms, fund of funds, registered investment advisors, mutual funds, introducing broker-dealers, unit investment trusts, pharmaceuticals, technology, manufacturing and retail. He earned his BS in Accounting from Yeshiva University. LEVEL II MODULE 5 Joncarlo founded Upwelling Capital Group LLC in 2011, a registered in- vestment adviser focused on provid- ing advisory and capital solutions to legacy private equity portfolios. He serves on the board of AltExchange Alliance, the advisory board for the Pri- vate Capital Research Institute (PCRI) and is a trustee and member of the University of California Davis Founda- tion Finance and Investment Commit- tee. Previously, Joncarlo was a Senior Portfolio Manager for nearly 12 years in the Alternative Investment Manage- ment (AIM) Program at the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), where he was a part of the senior leadership team responsible for investing in global private equity partnerships and direct investments, with a portfolio that exceeded $48 bil- lion of exposure. From 2007 to 2010, Joncarlo served as Chairman of the Board for the Institutional Limited Part- ners Association (ILPA). He earned his BA from the University of California, San Diego and a MBA from the Grad- uate School of Management at the University of California, Davis. WORLD CLASS FACULTY
