
Overview
The Navigating the Manager Relationship course is designed for limited partners seeking an extensive understanding of how to navigate challenging manager situations.
Participants will gain insight into situations that may arise during the course of the relationship, including but limited to portfolio company valuations, role and best practices for LPAC engagement, end of fund life challenges – all explored through the lens of real-world case studies.
This live, faculty-led program combines lecture-based learning with custom case studies designed to challenge assumptions and prepare participants with real-world experience in navigating relationships and risk.

Audience
This program is part of the ILPA Institute’s Intensive series of courses, which means this program is designed for the limited partner with more than three years of experience in private equity or has completed the comprehensive private equity training. Both investment professionals and legal/compliance roles can greatly benefit from this training and the Socratic method of case study dissection.

- Review fund governance and the role/purpose of the LPAC and its role in challenging situations
- Learn about risk and how to navigate difficult manager relationships, communications, operational issues, LPACs, deal sourcing and diligence methods

- Understand how valuation impacts fund investors and learn valuation approach and processes
- Understand best practices in monitoring managers, reporting and transparency and the key terms to rely on in difficult situations with managers
